1987 Buick Grand National

1987 Buick Regal Grand National hard top. I touched on somethings in the condition description but will expand on them here. This car has been a very slow work in progress since 2018. Due to a very large dose of life over the last 2 years, I will not be able to continue making this car road worthy. I’d rather not sell it but choices are limited at this point. And again this car is in rough shape. Inspect the pictures good, its not a show car, or trailer queen, or even road worthy, this is a project and nothing more.

This car has a clean NJ title. Last titled in 1993. The way it is pictured is the way I picked it up. As said before the engine was removed for inspection after passing earlier tests. Intake, cylinder heads, oil pan and timing cover were removed. Cylinder head were gone thru, valve jobbed and had new Comp Cams springs install. The fiber timing chain and gears were removed and installed new true roller gear set with new cam button. Timing cover had ware mark from old cam button. Installed a new timing cover with new oil pump gears. Installed new water pump and thermostat. Checked rod and main bearings and they looked really good and installed new rear main seal. Install oil pan with new gasket. Installed ARP head studs with Fel Pro head gaskets and installed cylinder heads. Assembled the rest of the engine after cleaning and paint and priming with new oil and filter. Before installing engine, repaired some wiring that the mice got into. Installed engine and it started right up with excellent oil pressure. This was 5 years ago.

The next project was to get the powermaster brakes in working order. Car still has the cast iron proportioning valve, which these cars were recalled for if I remember right. I have a new Brass proportioning valve that goes with it. It also needs the small gray TEE fitting with the .050 or .060 orifice that goes to the waste gate hoses. Thats all the work that I’ve put into it at this point.

So here is what the car has:

Hot wire kit to fuel pump

B&M mega shifter

New Impala SS alternator for voltage supply

ARP head Studs

Fel Pro gaskets and seals

New Comp Cam Valve springs

New Timing cover

New oil pump

New roller timing chain set

New cam button

New water pump

New thermostat

Big walbro fuel pump in the tank

42 LB injectors

Appears to have an aftermarket Power Chip installed

16×8 GNX wheels

The plan was make it run, make it road worthy, then tune it and make it rip and then work on the cosmetics stuff. Ive never had it on the road, again no brakes, I just sneak it around the yard and let it warm up. It needs alot of work. This is all I know about this car. I hope that this car can see the road again.

I will consider all offers, but $5000 isn’t going to get it. $5k doesn’t buy a rusted CJ jeep these days. Very good and excellent  examples of these cars are upper 30’s to low 50’s from recent auction prices. This is a chance to own one for alot less and make it your own.

I am planning on letting this listing run for 7 days while entertaining offers. If your interested dont wait, someone gets close, I will let it go. After the 7 days, I plan on lowering the price until it sells, it will not be relisted, its going to a new home within the next 30 days. If your interested make sure you have it on your watch page to receive notifications. People are more than welcome to come and inspect for there selves, Im am trying to be as open and honest as possible, everyone now knows everything that I know about the car. To whom ever buys the car, it will need to be hauled, please make arrangements. No warranties expressed or implied, as is where is.
