One of the primary problem areas in classic muscle car suspensions is the use of rubber bushings. They were cheap to manufacture for mass production and provided isolation from road noise and vibration, but rubber has a significant tradeoff its relatively soft durometer (hardness) allows for significant deflection of the chassis components under load. The rubber bushings twist and deform as the suspension components rotate, causing premature wear and unpredictable handling. Rubber eventually dry rots when exposed to the elements and degrades in the presence of grease and oil.

UMI’s Stage 1.5 kit is the simple way to dramatically improve the handling and performance of your muscle car. We start with our original Stage 1 kit and take it to the next level by adding Koni off-car rebound adjustable shocks. The Stage 1.5 kit also tunes up the camber curve by including ½” taller than stock upper ball joints that easily bolt to factory and most aftermarket a-arms. High performance lowering springs feature medium stiffness to control body movement and reduce floating while still providing a comfortable, sporty ride. Stage 1.5 balances out with our tried and true 1.250” front sway bar and 1” rear sway bars reducing body roll and providing excellent chassis balance when handling at the limit. Every component in this kit, as with all UMI products, is Made in USA.

Spring notes: Springs are intended for the Chevrolet small block engine. Lightweight LS may require trimming. An additional 1/4″ front end drop may occur with a full weight big block. Springs are designed to sit level, however due to varying weights and preferences, occasional trimming may be required.

Features:

  • Suitable for corner carving, auto-x and road racing while still being street friendly.
  • 1-1/4” CrMo front and 1” heat treated rear sway bars help control body roll.
  • 600lb/in linear front, 130lb/in linear rear lowering springs ensure crisp handling and a sporty ride
  • ½” taller than stock upper ball joint to improve camber curve.
  • Koni off-car rebound adjustable shocks.
  • Stage 1.5 can be upgraded to Stage 2 or 3 without duplicating parts.

G-body cars include the Buick Regal/Grand National/GNX, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Chevrolet El Camino, Chevrolet Malibu, GMC Caballero, Oldsmobile Cutlass (Supreme/Calais/Cruiser/Salon), 

Pontiac Grand Prix, the Pontiac Grand LeMans, and the Pontiac Bonneville from 1982-1988.

According to the G Body Forum the body style was unchanged the years of 1982-1988.

This part fits Buick Regal/GN and may fit most if not all G Body Cars. You can easily check for fit before purchasing by measuring the distance between the two oval holes on your vehicle.

Assembly Tools and Instructions: You will need a 7MM socket, ratchet and ten minutes time. Use your existing washers and screws and install this support bracket. 



Description:

This new design is much lighter than the previous steel version. It is made of aluminum. It will not rust. It has not been painted but can be painted if desired. This version also has additional, man made holes to allow more light in from both the existing bulb hear the driver side door/under dash area as well as any other future lights that may be installed. This part is designed to eliminate the sag under the dash. All G Body cars have this issue and over time it becomes worse and worse.  My 87 GN was no different, thus the need to have this manufactured. This part is attached using your existing two 7mm screws and washers. You simply remove your screw and washer one at a time and install this part right under the sagging, plastic section that may have old insulation peeking out as seen in the attached pictures.  One of the easiest parts you will ever install as long as you can get under the steering wheel and be able to see what you are doing. Great gift idea for the car enthusiast who thinks he has it all, until this part is put in place. Patent is pending.
