1978-1988 GM G-Body Tubular Upper & Lower Control Arms Kit

Rear control arms are one of the most important suspension modifications that can be done to your GM vehicle. Stock control arms are on the borderline of “junk”, bushing deflection and rusting weak stamped material add for traction loss and poor handling ability. Our tubular control arms are designed to give you the best of both worlds, whether your car is a weekend cruiser or a weekend track addict we got you covered. The included Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings are an excellent improvement over OEM rubber bushings, while adding ride improvements they also work excellent to reduce traction loss. These control arms are a direct bolt-on replacement designed to minimize wheel hop, improve corning and help track consistency. Lower control arms are supplied with sway bar mounting holes designed for your stock sway bar and most aftermarket bars.

UMI’s Stage 1 handling kit is perfect for the G-Body owner who wants a simple and effective suspension upgrade with real handling improvement. This kit includes our classic 1.250” front sway bar and 1” rear sway bar combined with UMI high performance lowering springs and Bilstein shocks. The sway bars reduce body roll and provide a nice balance when handling at the limit. Our lowering springs feature medium stiffness to control body movement and reduce floating while still providing a comfortable ride. Bilstein gas charged shocks control the springs and sway bars effectively for a crisp yet comfortable ride. Choose UMI’s Stage 1 as a 1st step to transforming your G-Body into a capable daily driver or corner carver. Made In USA.

UMI’s Stage 1 Handling Kit Includes:

  • 3035 – Heavy duty 1-1/4” CrMo front sway bar with new bushings & endlinks.
  • 3034 – Solid 1” heat treated CrMo rear sway bar.
  • Choice of 3050 – 1″ lowering springs, 600lb/in linear front, 130lb/in linear rear OR 3051 – 2″ lowering springs, 600lb/in linear front, 130lb/in linear rear.

The UMI P/N 2999 adds the finishing touch to allow full articulation of the GM 4-link rear suspension. By using 2999 and either Roto-Joints or rod ends in the other six locations, your 4-link will move bind-free whether it be autocross transition, road race cornering or just back road corner carving. These Roto-Joints install with a gentle press fit and are retained by a spiral retaining ring. The 6061-T6 aluminum housing is pre-greased with Synco Super Lube and will provide smooth motion for years to come. 100% manufactured in Philipsburg, PA-USA.

Improve handling and fulfill your G-body’s built-in performance potential by installing our P/N 3033 tubular upper a-arms. The relocated ball joint plate on these a-arms permits up to six degrees of positive caster without excessive shimming. Expect improved steering feedback courtesy of increased caster and a precise feel due to the UMI built Delrin bushings. Features include greaseable, low deflection UMI designed and manufactured Delrin bushings, chromoly cross shafts, premium ball joints and polyurethane bump stops. These track-tested, jig built DOM a-arms are supplied with a durable gloss red or black powder coat finish which guarantees your performance parts stay beautiful on your street car, drag car, autocrosser or Pro-touring machine. For even more performance, check out the P/N 3033-1 which adds the benefit of a ½” taller ball joint for an improved camber curve and flatter contact patch.

Hardware kit, Part # 3012 – Upper A-Arm hardware kit includes 12mm Grade 10.9 bolts, washers and nylock nuts. Kit includes everything needed to mount your new UMI Performance a-arms to your vehicle.

The UMI Performance spring and shock kit is designed to lower your car 1 while providing a huge improvement in handling and control. These kits feature our race quality lowering springs which provide a high performance foundation for your ride. Premium US sourced CrSi wire is wound into the correct rates for street cruising, Pro-Touring, corner carving or light drag use. The UMI Performance monotube shock features medium-firm compression valving and a ramped up rebound curve to properly control the UMI spring. The rebound valving also controls body roll when cornering and contributes to a high performance ride.

Springs: Springs intended for small block engine. Lightweight LS may require trimming and an additional 1/4″ front end drop may occur with a full weight big block.

  • Springs feature 600 lb/in front rates and 130 lb/in linear rate.
  • Premium CrSi US sourced wire used on all lowering springs.
