These LSx motor mount bushing adapter stands will bolt right to your frame to allow the installation of any LSx based engine (LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7 etc.). You will need to use 1998-2002 GM F-Body LS1 motor mount bushings on your block and they will mount directly to these adapter stands.

They’re available powder coated in your choice of bright red or gloss black for a brilliant and durable finish.

GM A-Body cars went through a transformation in 1978, and although GM redesignated rear-wheel drive A-Body models as G-Bodies beginning in 1982, the platform remained relatively unchanged until 1988. The 1978-88 A & G-Body segment contains some of the more iconic muscle cars of that era, making them prime candidates for an LS swap. Hedman Hedders has been building exhaust headers in the USA since 1954, and their extensive experience shows in the construction of these 1-3/4″ diameter, mid-length LS swap headers, designed specifically for installing the reliable, late-model powerplant into 1978-87 Caballero, Cutlass, El Camino, Grand Prix, and Regal, or 1978-88 Monte Carlo models. Built from mild steel material and handcrafted in our Whittier, California manufacturing plant, these headers come complete with gaskets, small head header bolts, and exhaust collector adapter for attaching the headers to a 2-1/2″ exhaust system. They have a durable, polished silver ceramic-metallic finish to keep underhood temperatures down, increase exhaust speed to help with scavenging, and look good great at the same time. Also available with Hedman’s Black-Maxx satin black ceramic-metallic finish, or uncoated. As with all Hedman Hedders, these headers are backed by a limited lifetime warranty, and the coating is covered for a full 5 years. To ensure proper fit, we recommend the use of Trans-Dapt’s engine and transmission swap mounts designed for you with these headers.

UMI Performance’s 12-bolt swap control arms are designed to bolt a 1964-1972 GM A-Body 10-Bolt or 12-Bolt rear end into a 1978-1988 GM G-Body; this includes Monte Carlo, Malibu, El Camino, Regal, Grand National, Grand Prix and Cutlass. These upper control arms are built at the correct angle to attach to the G-Body chassis as well as the A-Body rear end “ears”. These upper control arms are a must any time this swap is being completed. Using the factory control arms will cause drastic rear end bind and incorrect driveline angle, this leads to traction lose, vibrations and unsafe handling.

These control arms are supplied adjustable for easy on car adjustability to set correct pinion angle and allow adjustment for installation if needed. Adjustments are made using an aircraft quality 4140 chrome moly heat treated adjuster and UMI spherical Roto-Joint’s. The Roto-Joint allows rear end free movement when high handling, auto cross or road race is a concern but also works excellent as a drag race item by eliminating rear end bind. Upper control arms feature TIG welded construction, 4140 chrome moly tube adaptors to insure thread durability and brilliant powder coat.

More about Roto-Joint Technology…. UMI’s Roto-Joint, short for Rotational Joint, allows 28 degrees of total rotation and unrestricted movement throughout the vehicle’s suspension. The Roto-Joint is designed to work like a spherical rod end while maintaining streetable qualities of a softer bushing. The Roto-Joint is designed to articulate and prevent suspension bind, and since the installed delrin race does not deflect like softer bushings, there is an improvement in traction and a significant reduction in wheel hop. The construction of the Roto-Joint features a 4140-chrome moly, hard chrome plated spherical ball which rotates in a delrin race. The 4140-chrome moly material and hard chrome plating are designed for extensive wear resistance against hard driving and accumulated miles. The spherical ball rotates in the CNC machined delrin bushing, which is contoured for the spherical ball to allow unrestricted movement as the ball rotates. Delrin is the bushing material of choice due to its high resistance against wear, great tensile strength, and ability to maintain its physical properties. The housing of the Roto-Joint features 4140 chrome moly threads, and a CNC machined bushing holder TIG welded together for the utmost in strength and durability. The UMI Roto-Joint is adjustable and 100% rebuildable. This means as the delrin race wears the adjuster ring can be tightened using the optional spanner wrench to apply tension to the ball. If the delrin race would ever wear completely it can be replaced easily.

Spanner Wrench- This spanner wrenched is used for adjusting and disassembling Roto-Joints used in all UMI Performance products. Over time if the delrin race inside the Roto-Joint would wear the spanner wrench is used to tighten the adjusting ring applying more pressure to the delrin inside. The spanner wrench is also used to disassemble the Roto-Joint for cleaning, inspection and rebuilding.

Instant Center Relocation and Why It’s Needed

The basic information regarding instant center is the same for all cars, but for this discussion, we’ll focus on the factory-designed four-link system. The instant center (IC) is an imaginary point defined by extending the line of the upper and lower control arms forward until the two lines intersect. By changing the locating points of either the upper or lower control arms, the IC can be moved longitudinally (fore-aft) as well as vertically. Moving the instant center closer to the rear of the car reduces the leverage on the rear axle, reducing and eventually eliminating the car’s tendency to squat. There are two basic ways to change a Chevelle’s IC position. The OLD SCHOOL “No Hop” bars relocate the rear-axle mounting point of the upper control arms higher, which shortens the IC. The popular approach is to drop the lower rear mounting point of the bottom trailing arm. This is the approach taken by SOUTHSIDE MACHINE PERFORMANCE WITH OUR 4 HOLE RELOCATION BRACKETS.

As the instant center is moved toward the rear by altering the upper or lower control-arm mounting points, this has an effect on tire load, or the “hit” on the rear tire. If you are using a sticky rear tire like a wrinkle-wall M/T E.T. Street or a pair of slicks, moving the instant center rearward will apply more leverage to the rear suspension, reduce the squat, and take maximum advantage of the wrinkle-wall tires. If a set of stiffer-sidewall drag radials are used, positioning the instant center back from its stock location–but not as far back as for a wrinkle-wall tire–would be beneficial.

The height of the instant center will also move as you reposition the control arms, and this affects average tire loading on the rear tire. If you draw an imaginary line between the tire contact patch to the car’s center of gravity (CG), this is the 100 percent antisquat line. If the instant center is located above this line, antisquat will be more than 100 percent, while an instant center below the line is less than 100 percent antisquat. Theories abound on the proper location of the instant center, and this will change based on power, tire condition, track conditions, and perhaps a dozen other variables. This is just a hint of what you can learn about instant centers and traction. If you’re into maximum traction, there’s a ton of material to learn about putting the power to the ground.

These control arms from UMI Performance are designed to bolt a 1964-1972 GM A-Body 10-Bolt or 12-Bolt rear end into a 1978-1988 GM G-Body; this includes Monte Carlo, Malibu, El Camino, Regal, Grand National, Grand Prix and Cutlass. These upper control arms are built at the correct angle to attach to the G-Body chassis as well as the A-Body rear end “ears”. These control arms are a must any time this swap is being completed. Using factory control arms will cause drastic rear end bind and incorrect driveline angle, this leads to traction lose, vibrations and unsafe handling.

These control arms are supplied adjustable for easy on-car adjustability to set correct pinion angle and allow adjustment for installation if needed. Adjustments are made using an aircraft quality 4140 Chrome Moly heat treated adjuster and QA1 spherical bearing rod end. The QA1 rod end allows rear end free movement when high handling, auto cross or road race is a concern; it also works excellent as a drag race item by eliminating rear end bind. Upper control arms feature TIG welded construction, 4140 Chrome Moly tube adaptors to ensure thread durability and brilliant powder coat.
