UMI 78-88 G-Body 3-4″ Solid Rear Sway Bar, Auto-x/Road Race 3.25″, BLK 3052-325

UMI’s G-body ¾” solid rear sway bar is designed specifically to excel when used in autocross or road racing applications. The G-body chassis when coupled with the common high-rate PT bar tends to lift the inside rear tire during competition. The lower rate 3052 bar prevents inside rear wheel lift while still providing roll resistance and enhancing rotation. The chassis and differential housing mounts reduce bind normally associated with the factory style bars. UMI’s tried and true CNC machined clamping system allows differential housing mounting on 2.75″, 3″ and 3.25″ diameter housings. These can be bolted on or welded for additional security. The double shear chassis mounts are held in place by four 3/8″ fasteners. Drilling through the crossmember is required and template /instructions are included. Choose the longest hole for street and high-speed courses, middle hole for medium, and the shortest hole for maximum rotation.

Axle Tube Diameters:

  • Strange Engineering and Currie rear ends use 3” diameter axle tubes
  • Moser Engineering 12-bolt rear ends use 3” diameter axle tubes
  • Moser Engineering 9” rear ends manufactured after early 2002 use 3” axle tubes. Rear ends manufactured prior to early 2002 use 3.25” axle tubes. Please verify diameter before ordering.
  • Other brand rear ends will vary, please check your axle tube diameter before ordering.

Replace the factory’s weak, rubber bushed, stamped steel, flexible panhard bar with one of our heavy duty adjustable units! Our adjustable panhard bar greatly increases the rear end’s lateral stability and it’s the best component for serious handling performance.

Our adjustable panhard bar allows for centering the rear axle housing after lowering. It also allows for alignment of the rear end for clearance when running larger tires and greatly increases the rear end’s lateral stability.

One end is fitted with a grease fitting for easy lubrication of the fluted polyurethane bushings. The other end features a Teflon® lined spherical rod end that provides for “bind-free” handling performance. It comes powder coated in your choice of bright red or gloss black for a brilliant and durable finish.

    QA1 Adjustable Rear Frame Supports are engineered to improve handling, traction and all around suspension performance by eliminating unwanted chassis flex and reinforcing the upper and lower trailing arm mounts. Made from 1″ diameter cold rolled steel tubing, they feature zinc plated adjustable threaded sleeves for adjusting the preload in the rear trailing arm mount after installation. Designed to clear stock and aftermarket mufflers and includes all of the necessary hardware for an easy installation.

    UMI’s G-body Anti-Roll bar is designed to help your hot rod leave the line flat and straight. The bars are manufactured from light weight 1-3/8” diameter tubular steel and feature three different rates (street/strip, strip with drag radials and full slick settings). UMI’s tried and true CNC machined clamping system allows differential housing mounting on 2.75″, 3″ and 3.25″ diameter housings. These can be bolted on or welded for additional security. Since your car will be launching hard, we recommend welding. The double shear chassis mounts are held in place by four 3/8″ fasteners and feature our exclusive reinforcement plate up top to help distribute the load. Drilling through the crossmember is required and template /instructions are included. The house made hex adjuster allows pre-loading of the bar when used for drag applications so your car leaves straight no matter how much power you throw at it.     This Del-Sphere™ pivot jointed adjustable rear upper control arm for the 2005-2010 Ford Mustang outperforms the flexible, stamped steel arm with a soft rubber bushing that comes from the factory.

    Eliminate wheel hop, improve handling, and increase traction with an easy bolt on installation. The Del-Sphere™ pivot joint provides for “bind-free” handling and no deflection launch performance.

    The adjustability feature allows for setting the pinion angle. Our right hand and left hand threaded CNC machined 4140 chrome moly double adjuster allows for easy on-the-car adjustments, no need to unmount the control arm to make adjustments!

    It’s available powder coated in your choice of bright red or gloss black for a brilliant and durable finish.

    The rear upper control arm bushing on the 2005-2010 Ford Mustang has a significant impact on your vehicle’s ride, comfort, handling, acceleration, noise and vibration. When the vehicle leans (rolls) in a turn, one side of the chassis moves up relative to the rear axle and the other side moves down.

    The control arm must twist to allow for the axle to articulate, this causes the control arm bushing to bind. If this bind becomes excessive, it will raise the rear wheel rate and produce sudden and uncontrolled changes in handling such as snap oversteer.

    The factory minimizes this suspension bind by using compliant rubber bushings. These soft bushings help accommodate the necessary motion of the control arms during body roll. However, the rubber bushings do not provide much in the way of forward and aft support which can cause wheel hop during hard acceleration and braking.

    It is common to replace the stock rubber control arm bushing with polyurethane bushings to resolve the shortcomings of the factory’s soft rubber bushings. Polyurethane bushings eliminate wheel hop, reduce axle deflection, and improve straight line traction. However, the downside of polyurethane bushings is they prevent the necessary movement of the control arm during body roll, which in turn produces significant binding in the suspension when the vehicle is cornering.

    The polyurethane bushing also places high stresses on the control arm mount on the vehicle. Polyurethane bushed control arms do not allow for rotation of the control arm during cornering because of the stiffness of the bushings.

    Del-Sphere™ Pivot Joints:

    The Spohn Performance Del-Sphere™ pivot joint solves the shortcomings of the factory rubber and aftermarket polyurethane bushings. Our Del-Sphere™ pivot joint incorporates a spherical ball which is surrounded by Delrin® bushing cups.

    Think of the Del-Sphere™ pivot joint as a Delrin® bushed spherical rod end. After over a year of R&D testing here at Spohn Performance on a streetable spherical joint the Del-Sphere™ pivot joint is the final result. Designed and manufactured exclusively by Spohn Performance, we have taken street suspension performance to the next level.

    Our Del-Sphere™ pivot joint features a one piece forged and heat treated chrome moly housing, a heat treated and chrome plated chrome moly spherical ball, Delrin® bushing cups, heat treated retainer washer and snap ring, heat treated and chrome plated chrome moly threaded adjuster ring, an external grease fitting, and a beautiful silver zinc plated housing finish.

    The Delrin® bushing cups absorb shock and road noise so you get the quiet and smooth ride of a bushing as well as 28° of rotation! Our Del-Sphere™ pivot joints will always ship to you fully assembled, however, we also offer an optional adjusting tool that will allow you to do two things.

    First, you can disassemble the Del-Sphere™ pivot joint for cleaning, inspection, etc. Second, you can adjust the amount of tension on the spherical ball. The amount of tension can be easily adjusted by using our optional adjustment tool to tighten or loosen the end retainer ring.

    What that means is if over time and miles the tolerances open up you can simply re-adjust the retainer ring and have your pivot joint as tight as it was the day it was brand new. We doubt you’ll ever need to replace the Delrin® bushing cups, but they certainly can be. Unlike a spherical rod end, the Del-Sphere™ pivot joint is 100% rebuildable.

    Disc Brake Stopping Power at a Great Value

    This economical disc brake kit for Ford 9 inch axles is simple to install and provides big stopping power, at a price nearly the same as replacing original drum brakes. That Ford rear end handles the power to make it go, but these binders clamp down when you say whoa! Today’s average family sedan can stop from 60 MPH in 120 feet, at nearly 1G of deceleration. You need the same stopping power. Your passengers, you and your car deserve the confidence of disc brakes and our kit delivers that confidence with exceptional value.

    Superior to Drum Brakes

    Aftermarket disc brakes are superior to original drums in many ways: more braking force, less brake fade, and easier service. Stopping power starts with our newly manufactured GM Metric D154 style single piston calipers, commonly found on 1978-88 GM G-Body and A-Body cars. Large 11-1/4” diameter, 1” thick vented rotors provide more stopping leverage than common 9” or 10” drum brakes. Brake pads are easier to change than drum shoes, and our brake kit includes a street-friendly organic compound for long rotor/pad life. Replacement pads are common sized, available from your local auto parts store. Looking for more aggressive stopping power? We carry race-grade D154 disc brake pads that drop in just as easily.

    Fits Ford 9 Inch Housings

    This disc brake kit fits Ford passenger car Ford 9 inch axle housings with “big bearing” ends (3.150” O.D. bearing, found on passenger cars from 1974-79). Included bracketry will adapt this kit to both “new style” and “old style” Ford 9 inch housing flanges with the 3/8” bearing retainer bolt holes. Bracket spacers are also included, allowing this kit to work with axle flange offsets of 2-3/8” or 2-1/2” common on Ford 9 inch passenger car rear ends. Axle flange offset is measured from the axle housing flange face (with bearing retainer removed) to the axle shaft flange face (side where the brake rotor/drum rides, including the thickness of the axle flange).

    Hardware and Instructions Included

    Kit includes a detailed, step-by-step instruction sheet with images. The floating calipers include new Grade 5 slider bolts, with all remaining hardware of Grade 8 quality. Cast iron rotors feature a dual bolt pattern in 5×4.5” (Ford/Mopar/AMC) or 5×4.75” (Chevy/GM) to match your desired wheel hub pattern. Plus, this assembly will clear most 15” diameter wheels designed with disc brakes in mind. Note that there are no provisions for a parking brake, making this the perfect disc brake conversion kit for the budget-focused builder who prefers a basic upgrade kit.

    This Part Fits

    This kit will NOT work on pickup housings or the 50’s 9″ housings as they only have about 2″ backspace. The exception would be the late 50’s station wagon rear ends.

    When using with a Currie Axle with an o/d register of 2.795″, the rotor is included in this kit with an i/d register of 2.78″ and therefore will need to be machined by increasing the hole diameter in the rotor to match the Currie axle spec of 2.795″

    1. For passenger car axles only, 15” and larger wheels only
    2. Fits 9 inch housing axle offsets of 2-3/8” to 2-1/2” (measured from outside of housing flange to outside of axle flange, not measured out to axle register but only surface where the rotor sits against). Requires “big bearing” housing ends (for a 3.150” O.D. bearing) with 3/8” bearing retainer bolt holes.
    3. Brake rotor has a 2.78” center hole and works with axle shaft flanges no larger than 6-1/4” diameter. If your axle shaft flange exceeds that diameter, you will need machine the flange to decrease the diameter.
    4. Brackets position the calipers in a rear-mid orientation (3 o’clock on the driver side rear wheel), making this ideal for pull-type emergency brake cable systems (most OEM systems work in this way).
    5. This kit is an aftermarket solution. It is not intended to be a direct installation or OEM replacement. Due to changes in production in certain years, your application may require modifications beyond these instructions for this kit to install properly.
    6. This kit will only fit 8″ Ford housings with big ford bearings.
