Our RRx Series™ tubular front lower a-arms for the 1978-1987 GM G-Body set a higher standard of performance and quality. They are truely the new standard of comparison.

All of our RRx Series™ tubular a-arms are designed using aerospace level technology and design tools. First we create a 3D scan of the factory a-arm using a FARO® ScanArm™ with a 3D laser scanning attachment. Then we use that 3D model of the factory a-arm as our foundation for creating a tubular version inside of our Solidworks® 3D design software.

After we’re done designing the a-arm in Solidworks®, we then use that 3D data to design the jig that we will use to build the a-arms. The jig parts are then CNC laser cut and formed on an 8 axis CNC press brake. The final result is dimensional accuracy to within .005″!

When we designed our RRx Series™ tubular front lower control arms, we had two goals in mind. One was to provide the performance capabilities needed for the toughest race tracks, the second was to provide the strength and durability required for the demands of a daily driven vehicle.

We’re proud to say that we have accomplished both. If you’re looking for the strongest, most rigid, and best performing front lower a-arms for the GM G-Body cars, you just found them!

Our RRx Series™ front control arms are a true “A” arm rather than a “V” arm. This increases the arm’s rigidity and equalizes the forces delivered in to the frame. These a-arms are completely gusseted to provide for maximum rigidity and durability, as well as zero flex.

The CNC machined coil spring mounting tube is completely surrounded and tied in with CNC laser cut 3/16″ steel gussets that are solid MIG welded. We also 100% TIG weld on CNC laser cut and formed 3/16″ steel bushing tube gussets for maximum strength and durability.

These a-arms are equipped with a CNC machined coil spring mounting tube for installation of factory or factory style (lowering) springs. The coil spring mounting base has a spring ramp that provides for proper clocking and seating of the coil spring around it’s circumference. This allows the spring to spread it’s load across the entire spring seat, not at one small area as other designs on the market do. Note: We do not alter the ride height.

Another feature of our RRx Series™ tubular front lower a-arms that is missing from most of our competitor’s products is a coil spring retention tube. We weld a short piece of 4″ o.d. tube to the base of our coil spring mount for the coil spring to slide over. This locks the coil spring in place and keeps it perfectly centered inside of the a-arm.

The front shock’s lower t-bar mounts to our a-arm base just like it does on the factory a-arm. What that means is you can run any front shock or front coil over system. If it mounts to the factory a-arm, it will mount the same to our a-arm. That provides you with the flexibility to run factory style coil springs or lowering springs, factory or aftermarket front shocks, and aftermarket front coil over kits, all on the same a-arm.

These a-arms come equipped with steering stops welded in place that maintain the factory steering radius as well as polyurethane bump stops that maintain the same suspension travel as the factory a-arms.

Finally, we 

include new spherical front sway bar end links. Our front sway bar end links connect to the a-arm with a self-lubricating Teflon® lined chrome moly spherical joint that provides a bind-free connection for maximum handling performance. The top of the end link connects to the front sway bar with low deflection polyurethane bushings.

    UMI’s G-body Pro-Tour style bar is a true multi-purpose high performance rear sway bar. The chassis and differential housing mounts reduce bind normally associated with the factory style bars. The bars are 1″ diameter hollow and feature three different rates (street/auto-x, road race/strip). UMI’s tried and true CNC machined clamping system allows differential housing mounting on 2.75″, 3″ and 3.25″ diameter housings. These can be bolted on or welded for additional security. The double shear chassis mounts are held in place by four 3/8″ fasteners. Drilling through the crossmember is required and template /instructions are included. The house made hex adjuster allows pre-loading of the bar when used for drag applications so your car leaves straight. Choose the longest hole for street, middle hole for auto-x, road race and the shortest hole for drag use.

    These tubular rear upper control arms for the 1972-1976 Ford Torino and Ranchero outperform the flexible, stamped steel arms and soft rubber bushings that come from the factory.

    These combo ended rear upper control arms will wipe out most bind, yet keep the road noise increase minimal for a street driven car. The Del-Sphere pivot joints provide for “bind-free” handling performance. The fluted polyurethane bushed ends are mounted onto the chassis (floor) mount for maximum road noise insulation.

    Eliminate wheel hop, increase traction, and drastically improve handling with an easy bolt on installation. The Del-Sphere pivot joints provide for “bind-free” handling and no deflection launch performance. They’re available powder coated in your choice of bright red or gloss black for a brilliant and durable finish.

    The control arm bushings on the 1972-1976 Ford Torino and Ranchero have a significant impact on your vehicle?s ride, comfort, handling, acceleration, noise and vibration. When the vehicle leans (rolls) in a turn, one side of the chassis moves up relative to the rear axle and the other side moves down.

    The control arms must twist to allow for the axle to articulate, this causes the control arm bushings to bind. If this bind becomes excessive, it will raise the rear wheel rate and produce sudden and uncontrolled changes in handling such as snap oversteer.

    The factory minimizes this suspension bind by using compliant rubber bushings. These soft bushings help accommodate the necessary motion of the control arms during body roll. However, the rubber bushings do not provide much in the way of forward and aft support which can cause wheel hop during hard acceleration and braking.

    It is common to replace the stock rubber control arm bushings with polyurethane bushings to resolve the shortcomings of the factory’s soft rubber bushings. Polyurethane bushings eliminate wheel hop, reduce axle deflection, and improve straight line traction. However, the downside of polyurethane bushings is they prevent the necessary movement of the control arms during body roll, which in turn produces significant binding in the suspension when the vehicle is cornering.

    The polyurethane bushings also place high stresses on the control arm mounts on the vehicle. Polyurethane bushed control arms do not allow for rotation of the control arm during cornering because of the stiffness of the bushings.

    Del-Sphereâ?¢ Pivot Joints:

    The Spohn Performance Del-Sphere pivot joint solves the shortcomings of the factory rubber and aftermarket polyurethane bushings. Our Del-Sphere pivot joint incorporates a spherical ball which is surrounded by Delrin® bushing cups.

    Think of the Del-Sphere pivot joint as a Delrin® bushed spherical rod end. After over a year of R&D testing here at Spohn Performance on a streetable spherical joint the Del-Sphere pivot joint is the final result. Designed and manufactured exclusively by Spohn Performance, we have taken street suspension performance to the next level.

    Our Del-Sphere pivot joint features a CNC machined DOM housing, a heat treated and chrome plated chrome moly spherical ball, Delrin® bushing cups, heat treated retainer washer and snap ring, heat treated and chrome plated chrome moly threaded adjuster ring, and an external grease fitting.

    The Delrin® bushing cups absorb shock and road noise so you get the quiet and smooth ride of a bushing as well as 28 degrees of rotation! Our Del-Sphere pivot joints will always ship to you fully assembled, however, we also offer an optional adjusting tool that will allow you to do two things.

    First, you can disassemble the Del-Sphere pivot joint for cleaning, inspection, etc. Second, you can adjust the amount of tension on the spherical ball. The amount of tension can be easily adjusted by using our optional adjustment tool to tighten or loosen the end retainer ring.

    What that means is if over time and miles the tolerances open up you can simply re-adjust the retainer ring and have your pivot joint as tight as it was the day it was brand new. We doubt you’ll ever need to replace the Delrin® bushing cups, but they certainly can be. Unlike a spherical rod end, the Del-Sphere pivot joint is 100% rebuildable.

    Another feature of our RRx Seriesâ„¢ tubular front lower a-arms that is missing from most of our competitor’s products is a coil spring retention tube. We weld a short piece of 4″ o.d. tube to the base of our coil spring mount for the coil spring to slide over. This locks the coil spring in place and keeps it perfectly centered inside of the a-arm.

    The front shock’s lower t-bar mounts to our a-arm base just like it does on the factory a-arm. What that means is you can run any front shock or front coil over system. If it mounts to the factory a-arm, it will mount the same to our a-arm. That provides you with the flexibility to run factory style coil springs or lowering springs, factory or aftermarket front shocks, and aftermarket front coil over kits, all on the same a-arm.

    These a-arms come equipped with steering stops welded in place that maintain the factory steering radius as well as polyurethane bump stops that maintain the same suspension travel as the factory a-arms.

    Finally, we include new spherical front sway bar end links. Our front sway bar end links connect to the a-arm with a self-lubricating Teflon® lined chrome moly spherical joint that provides a bind-free connection for maximum handling performance. The top of the end link connects to the front sway bar with low deflection polyurethane bushings.

    UMI’s G-body Anti-Roll bar is designed to help your hot rod leave the line flat and straight. The bars are manufactured from light weight 1-3/8” diameter tubular steel and feature three different rates (street/strip, strip with drag radials and full slick settings). UMI’s tried and true CNC machined clamping system allows differential housing mounting on 2.75″, 3″ and 3.25″ diameter housings. These can be bolted on or welded for additional security. Since your car will be launching hard, we recommend welding. The double shear chassis mounts are held in place by four 3/8″ fasteners and feature our exclusive reinforcement plate up top to help distribute the load. Drilling through the crossmember is required and template /instructions are included. The house made hex adjuster allows pre-loading of the bar when used for drag applications so your car leaves straight no matter how much power you throw at it. This G-body drag bar is available in beautiful red or black powder coat. Manufactured with pride in Philipsburg, PA – USA.

    Our tubular k-member for the 1993-2002 F-Body Camaro and Firebird with an LSx V-8 engine sets a new, higher standard of performance and quality. When we designed our k-member, we had several goals in mind.

    One was to provide the performance capabilities needed for the toughest race tracks, another was to provide the strength and durability required for the demands of a daily driven vehicle.

    Our k-member provides substantial weight savings and frees up a lot of room in the engine bay for our drag race customers, but it also provides the strength, rigidity, and durability for our road race, autox, and daily driver customers as well….. all in one package!

    Our tubular k-member features gusseted a-arm mounts for maximum rigidity and side load support. Our k-members are gusseted in critical areas (over 20 locations!) to ensure that a weld never breaks. They decrease overall weight, and provide much more room for large tube headers, turbo systems, etc.

    Our jig was built around the factory k-member providing for an exact fit and factory exact dimensions. Every detail of the factory k-member was incorporated, including all five brake line mounts. There’s no “zip tying” of the brake lines with our k-member.

    It will accept factory a-arms or aftermarket tubular a-arms and it’s set up to mount a factory steering rack. It’s available powder coated in your choice of bright red or gloss black for a brilliant and durable finish.

    Build Specifications and Features:

    • 1.50″ x .120″ wall DOM tubing – formed one piece front hoop.
    • 1.50″ x .120″ wall DOM tubing a-arm mount tubes.
    • 1.25″ x .120″ wall DOM tubing rear support tube.
    • Factory style button head locating pins.
    • CNC laser cut 3/16″ steel gussets in over 20 locations for maximum strength and durability.
    • CNC laser cut and formed 3/16″ steel a-arm mounts, solid welded inside and outside. Outside welds are sanded smooth to allow for a flush fit to the car, eliminate stress risers, and provide a clean and smooth appearance.
    • All a-arm mounts are gusseted front and rear for side load strength. The slots have been lengthened to provide more a-arm adjustment over the factory k-member.
    • Recessed passenger’s side rear a-arm mount to provide clearance for long tube headers. Rear a-arm mount boxes are offset bent just like the factory k-member for factory exact fit and finish.
    • CNC laser cut and formed reinforced 3/16″ steel steering rack mounts.
    • Welded in a special built rotary jig to insure an exact fit and allow for precision welds entirely in the flat position.
    • Includes (6) new 12mm Grade 10.9 k-member mounting bolts and heavy flat washers.
    • Includes (8) new flanged head motor mount bolts and flanged head steel lock nuts.
    • Includes all five brake line mounts and new brake line mounting tab bolts and nuts.
    • LSx motor mount pads allow for the installation of any LSx based engine (LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7, etc.).
    • Available powder coated in your choice of bright red or gloss black for a brilliant and durable finish.
